Quality Assurance & Certifications
Azteca Milling’s Quality Assurance Department is committed to using their professional expertise to support our company’s goal of providing only the highest quality products to our customers. Quality Assurance is an integral part of all phases of corn masa flour production, from the earliest phase of collaborating with farmers on seeds and farming methods to continuous product testing to ensure quality.
We are proud of having our state-of-the-art processing equipment and of our certifications achieved. Our production plants comply with the necessary standards to certify our corn masa flour as Kosher. And since 1991, our plants have been audited every year under the standard good manufacturing practices established by the AIB Institute (American Institute of Baking).
Since 1996, the company has been moving forward with the latest Food Safety/Security initiatives based on several Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9000, while certifying in record time the second largest corn milling plant in Evansville, Indiana, and complying with the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) requirements under the SQF (Safe Quality Foods) certification, which raises the standard for food manufacturing to a much higher level by including comprehensive programs through enhanced HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) implementation, besides including important food safety aspects.
Azteca Milling has an aggressive plan to obtain SQF certification for all six manufacturing facilities from 2015 to mid-2016. To date, the most important plants, Evansville, Indiana; Plainview and Edinburg, Texas; as well as Henderson, Kentucky have already been certified.
Also, the company has three plants certified for organic operations, and two plants certified to produce Non GMO product. All plants are audited by the new AIB standard, as well as by Kosher and Gluten Free, continuing with the health awareness demanded by the public, since the company is also producing whole grain flours.
Likewise, Azteca Milling is following very closely any new implementations and requirements dictated by the new FDA modernization act.
